  Sales Commission System

Project Leader/Developer
Mar 1991 – May 1993

Summary

Initially hired as a consultant to resolve 18 months of persistent AP & AR billing problems for two micro computer applications generating an annual revenue of approximately $500K.  The issues were resolved within two months.  Soon after, I was extended a full time position to head up a new effort to downsize a Mainframe Sales Commission application to a Windows Client Server application.

Highlights

  • Instrumental in moving C&WC off the mainframe to client server.
  • In 1991, the Sales Commission System was of one of the largest client server efforts in the Washington, DC metro area.
  • Solely responsible for the evaluation, selection and acquisition of all the hardware and software related to the project.
  • I was also responsible for the installation and maintenance of the network, and database server.
  • Because of the visibility of the project to Microsoft and Powersoft Software, our site obtained one of the first pre-release copies of Microsoft Windows for Workgroups in the metro area.
  • In addition, I also set up our department with Microsoft’s Mail, and Schedule Plus before it was released which eventually became Microsoft Office and the standard for the company.

Environment & Tools

  • RAD Application Methodology, Mainframe 3270 CICS, PowerBuilder v1.0,  Client/Server
  • MS SQL Server, IBM OS2, LAN Manager, Windows for Workgroups, MS Schedule Plus, MS Mail
